We rely on the generosity of groups and individuals to fundraise for us. There are hundreds of different ways you can raise money for Mountain Rescue. Choose an event you enjoy the most. Listed below are examples of how individuals and community groups have got together to organise their own events to raise money. These examples should give you a taster.
Employee Fundraising
Get colleagues involved by fundraising activities including dress down days,
five a-side tournaments or managers/senior personnel being placed for bid
for an Auction of Promise to do tasks for a day.
Quiz evenings
Organise just one night or a whole series of quizzes in local pubs or social
clubs. You can charge entry per person or per team and get prizes donated.
Many pubs or social clubs will support you as the event will bring them extra
customers.
Sponsorship with Gift Aid
Organise a sponsored event such as swimming, cycling or running - and get
fit at the same time. Recently we had someone do a sponsored swimming event
in a local pool swimming the length of the channel from Dover to Calais.
Raffle/Auction of promises
Lots could range from two hours of dog walking, meals in local restaurants
or mowing your neighbour's lawn, could include auction of promise from window
cleaning. local taxi ride to the airport. You could charge a small entrance
fee and provide drinks and snacks. Make sure you have got plenty of lots
to auction and get local publicity to encourage people to attend. Gather
prizes from local shops, unwanted birthday and Christmas presents.
Party
Hold a party, BBQ, coffee morning and organise a raffle. Everyone will have
a great time with the added bonus of knowing they have made a difference.
If you know a lot of people, a Dinner Dance or Ball could be a great way to
raise funds...negotiate with a popular local venue, and allow lots of time
to organise and sell tickets, combine the evening with an instant raffle or
auction.
Sporting or Fun event
If you are part of a sports club, golf club or fitness centre, could you
organise a charity football match or golf day or does your club have one already?
Organise a fun event for friends or colleagues such as a treasure hunt, Trivial
Pursuit, cheese and wine, ten-pin bowling or going horse racing.
Boot Sale
Take unwanted items to a car boot sale - you can also ask friends, family
and colleagues if they have unwanted goods they can contribute. Start collecting
goods and sell them on the day.
