Patron HRH Prince William of Wales
Patron HRH Prince William of Wales
Prince William became our Patron in 2007. David Allan, chairman of Mountain Rescue England and Wales said, 'It was with great delight and pride that we were able to announce that Prince William had taken on the role of our Patron. We believe that, apart from the honour bestowed, his patronage has brought very tangible benefits to mountain rescue.
'Last year saw the Prince joining mountain rescue team members and young people from the Centerpoint charity, in a climb of Helvellyn. He later joined a group of children from Wellchild, sailing with their families along Ullswater. It was a delight to see the Prince's charities working together.'
The patronage reflect William's interest in youth sport and, in his own words, his desire to 'highlight and celebrate the vital, selfless and courageous work of our mountain rescue organisations'.
