The Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSAMRA) is the umbrella organisation for the twelve teams serving Cumbria and the Lake District.

Its primary role is to act as a forum for sharing best practice within the region and a focus for mountain rescue communications between the national body and the individual teams.

The twelve member teams include Cockermouth MRT, Coniston MRT, Cumbria Ore Mines Rescue Unit (COMRU), Duddon and Furness MRT, Kendal MSRT, Keswick MRT, Kirkby Stephen MRT, Langdale Ambleside MRT, Patterdale MRT, Penrith MRT, Search and Rescue Dog Association (Lakes), and Wasdale MRT.

The Police, Ambulance Service, Fire and Rescue, RAF and Air Ambulances are fully represented at the association meetings. There are approximately 450 team members across the region and the teams deal with over 450 incidents every year.

The area hosts four peaks over 3,000 feet including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England and the busiest with regard to adventure challenge incidents.
