Seventeen members of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team responded to a call from the West Midlands Ambulance Service on Monday afternoon (20/3), following a report of an injured hill walker, near to Bearstone Rock, Roach End.
The first team members arrived as the Midlands Air Ambulance was circling above the casualty. A 60 year old man from Leamington Spa had slipped on the wet, muddy path and sustained a suspected fractured leg. Treatment was provided by team personnel initially until the helimed medics arrived on site and took over.
The casualty was packaged and placed onto a mountain rescue stretcher before being carried to the waiting aircraft and transferred to a North Staffordshire Hospital.
