Two Donations help buy defibs for Aberdyfi Rescue Team

On Friday 1st Dec, Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team members were at the Welsh Government offices in Llandudno to meet up with staff from Vinci Facilities and collect a donation of £900 on behalf of North Wales Mountain Rescue Association (NWMRA).

The Vinci staff had raised this fantastic sum through a series of fund raising events, including a 'Bake Off' event.

Aberdyfi Team Leader Chris Dunn accepted the cheque on behalf of NWMRA. “All of our Mountain Rescue Teams are completely volunteer-operated and funded by charitable donations, and Teams have a continuous task raising the funds to remain operational and to offer this amazing free service to our communities and visitors. Donations such as this make a massive difference, and we are very appreciative of the efforts on the part of Vinci Facilities staff that this represents.”

The money, along with another fantastic donation of £1500 received from Tywyn Rotary Club, will be used immediately to equip the Aberdyfi Team vehicles with automated external defibrillators (AEDs). These portable devices check the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to try to restore a normal pattern. AEDs are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest.
