Car Passengers Trapped in Flood-Water near Dolgellau

Shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Sat 22nd Feb, Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team was requested to assist North Wales Police and Fire & Rescue services in the rescue of passengers from two vehicles trapped in flood-water on the A470 near Dolgellau.

As water in the river Wnion exceeded the highest levels recorded since the river gauge was opened in 1990, storm drains in the Bont Fawr underpass were unable to function and the dip in the road became flooded. Two vehicles, a van with a single passenger, and a car with two adults and a child became trapped in the water.

As the water team were gathering equipment and arriving on scene, the team was informed that the passengers had been recovered and the incident was stood down.
