How can we help?
We’ve put together a few Frequently Asked Questions, but if there’s something you can’t find, or you’d like to chat more about anything conference-related, email Penny and Judy via conference@mountain.rescue.org.uk. We’ll be happy to help.
The next Mountain Rescue Conference takes place 6-8 September 2024 at Lancaster University (Postcode for your satnav: LA1 4YW). Registration is from 6.00 pm on the Friday evening, with the conference running from Saturday morning through to Sunday lunchtime.
Tickets are available through Eventbrite. You can register online through our conference website. Please follow the instructions provided for registration and payment.
Yes, the deadline for registration is 30 July. However, with the introduction of a non-accommodation weekend rate (in late March), we are asking that delegates register before 31 May if possible – this is the date we must make a decision how many of the contracted rooms to ‘hand back’. As such, if you wish to stay in the accommodation on campus, we recommend registering early as places are limited.
Yes, there are three levels of discount available: two options for MREW team members and BCRC team members, and a second level for other search and rescue organisations (eg. Lowland Rescue, Lifeboats, Scottish Mountain Rescue, Mountain Rescue Ireland). The price to public and statutory emergency services is £320. Tickets for other SAR organisations are £220. Tickets for MREW/BCRC team members are £190. As of late March, we also have a non-accommodation weekend rate available, for £130.
MREW team members: Please use your team email address when using the related discount code — failure to do so may lead to your tickets being cancelled. Members of other SAR organisations: Please use an official email address that relates to your organisation when using the related discount code.
As per the previous question, MREW and BCRC team members are required to use their team email address when using the related discount code.
Members of other SAR organisations are also asked to use an official email address that relates to their organisation when using the related discount code.
You must also provide an email address, and the name of the organisation you belong to, with your purchase. Any that we deem non-compliant with the appropriate discount will be voided, your money returned and the ticket invoiced correctly. We ask that you respect the process in fairness to all the delegates attending.
No. But we would advise that you register early to secure your place because rooms are limited at the university.
Yes, but you will be required to provide name, email address, name of organisation and dietary requirements for each individual ticket holder before payment.
When you register for the fully inclusive weekend, you will get the following:
Friday: Please be advised, food is not included for Friday evening
Saturday: Breakfast, lunch and dinner + tea and coffee through the day
Sunday: Breakfast + tea and coffee through the morning
Accommodation: Friday and Saturday evening in the Lancaster University Guest Rooms (all en suite and at the centre of the weekend’s activities).
We have to be guided by the university in this respect and, unfortunately, the Guest Rooms are ‘pet free’.
The option for alternative accommodation is NOT included in the ticket price and there is NO discount for booking elsewhere.
Should you wish to book your own accommodation, there are a number of hotels within a four-mile radius, including Lancaster House, The Mill at Condor Green and Travel Lodge and Premier Inn. We suggest using the usual search engines for details.
Yes and yes. There are parking spaces around the site and dedicated bays for electric car charging. Parking over the weekend is free, but please be aware that if you arrive before 6.00 pm on the Friday evening, an hourly parking charge will apply.
Yes.
Yes, Certificates of Attendance can be provided for CPD purposes on request. Please contact the registration desk during the conference or email conference@mountain.rescue.org.uk.
Heck yes. The whole weekend is one big networking event — hence the first word of our strapline: Engage, Educate and Entertain.
Exhibitors and sponsors have their respective cancellation policies incorporated into their T&Cs. Delegates who cancel before 30 July will be refunded. Cancellations after this date cannot be refunded. However, please note that for places cancelled before 30 July, we are still obliged to pay the Eventbrite fees and we reserve the right to deduct this cost from your ticket refund.
