Stay safe out there!

There are many, many ways to enjoy the mountains. And whether you're walking, climbing, running, cycling or skiing, they can be as treacherous as they are inspiring.

Many accidents occur towards the end of the day when both you and your phone are low on energy. But there are steps you can take to keep you and your party safe, and many of these are before you even leave home. Start by downloading our handy guide

And why not download one of VARTA's handy guides at the same time: Winter Walking Guide or the Spring/Summer Guide. It might just save your life!

Enjoy those dark, autumn nights but stay safe!

As the nights draw in, the weather gets colder and the skies get darker, it's more important than ever to plan ahead to ensure you stay safe out there. That means carrying a torch, a head torch – and a spare too – along with warm, waterproof clothing, map and compass, and a well-charged phone.

And don't forget to keep one eye on the weather. Always be prepared to turn back or take a shorter route. The mountains will still be there another day.
