Issue 63 Mountain Rescue Winter 2018

With the ‘MREW Land Rover’ now on the road, on loan to mountain rescue from Jaguar Land Rover, and every team given the opportunity to test it out on their patch, we began tracking its progress round England and Wales. Emily Thompson turned the spotlight on women in mountain rescue, beginning with Penny Brockman, Central Beacons team leader and MREW financial director, Dave Hollinger looked at the human factors involved in avalanche avoidance and George McEwan put snow anchors to the test.
